"Focus on Northern Maine" piece on the Northern Maine Development Commission (NMDC), which will soon release a resort feasibility study. Experts cite northern Maine's growing reputation as a winter sports mecca, and tourist officials see a potential resort as a way to jumpstart Aroostook County's tourism development. The NMDC's "Five-Year Tourism Business Plan for Northern Maine" includes establishing a "brand," promoting the landscape and local communities, organizing regional partnerships, cultivating affinity markets such as snowmobiling, and developing new cooperative tourism initiatives.
