Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece assessing the pros and cons of recent legislative actions on the small-business community. Jim McGregor, executive vice president of the Maine Merchants Association, said the increase in the state's minimum wage from $6.50 to $7.00 an hour over the next two years will have a major impact on small businesses. But David Clough, director of the National Federation of Independent Business in Maine, gave credit to the legislature for several bills that will help small businesses.
