Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on a $220,000 federal grant to bolster enforcement of liquor laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol to minors. All 16 county sheriffs will inspect every one of the approximately 2,000 stores licensed to sell alcohol in Maine. The grant will pay for 1,450 inspections a year. With comments by Kim Johnson, director of the Maine Office of Substance Abuse; Steven Rowe, attorney general; and Jamie Py, executive director of the Convenience Store Council of Maine.
