Abstract

Article on the creative economy, with a focus on the exodus of artists from Portland to more affordable areas in converted mills in Biddeford and Saco, Westbrook, Sanford, and Brunswick. Rachael Weyand, director of Heart of Biddeford, estimates there are between 800 and 1,000 artists in Saco and Biddeford and around 300 of them rent studios in the Lincoln Mill, Riverdam Millyard, North Dam Millyard, or Bugbee Brown building.
