Abstract
"Focus: Building & Real Estate" piece on Harrison-based Big Bear Rustic Log Homes, which produces high-end custom log homes, with energy-efficient and automated features. Anthony Rauseo, the national technology director for Microsoft Corp., founded the company in 2005 after seeing a fit for his technological background in the log home industry, and betting on an increase in demand for custom log homes. Rauseo has included over two-dozen energy efficient features in his model home with hopes of making his log home the first in Maine certified by the national Energy Star program. Rauseo estimates an average Big Bear log home will sell in the $600,00 to $1 million range. Details.
