Abstract

Governor Angus King says his eight Regional Conferences on Small Business might have finally caused people to recognize the importance of small businesses to Maine's economy. Although King calls for streamlined regulations, tax changes, and greater international trade, he says no one can predict what might draw a business to Maine. King was at the University of New England to dedicate the new Alfond Center for Health Services. He gave special mention to increased North Woods tourism, and a better relationship between the Department of Environmental Protection and the business community.
