Abstract
"Focus: Downeast Region" piece on the former Cutler Navy base, which is being redeveloped by cousins and business partners Tom Manning and Adam Meyer into waterfront condominiums with a business park and commercial center. The 61 condominium units at Beachwood Bay Estates are on the market for between $100,000 and $209,000, with surprisingly strong sales already. Mike Cote, owner of Look's Gourmet Food Co. in nearby Whiting, last month agreed to lease 12,000 square feet of the base's former commissary building for use as a warehouse. After a series of false starts with other redevelopment plans, residents are optimistic and supportive of the project. With comments by Dianne Tilton, former chair of the Washington County Redevelopment Authority; and Rep. Eddie Dugay, D-Cherryfield.
