Abstract
"Focus on Energy & Utilities" piece on a bill sponsored by Rep. Herb Adams, D-Portland, that would ban drilling within 100 miles of Maine's coastline. A bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives threatens to lift a 1982 ban on oil drilling on most areas of the continental shelf. Maine has little in the way of oil or natural gas resources, and its political climate would be an additional deterrent to oil companies. With an illustrated look at new energy proposals in Maine using wind, tidal, liquefied natural gas, biodiesel, and biomass energy.
