Abstract

In the past year, Gardiner Savings Institution has merged with Calais Federated Savings & Loan Association and bought out Presque-Isle-based First Citizens Bank, gaining business outside of its central and midcoast Maine base. CEO Arthur Markos wants to expand into untapped markets and spread the rising costs of technology and federal regulations over more branch locations.
