Abstract

"Racino Watch" piece reporting that Hollywood Slots in Bangor has received approximately 867,000 visitors since it opened last November, spending more than $520 million in its 475 slot machines. State law requires that 89 percent of the cash wagered must be returned in the form of jackpots to gamblers, and the state and city also receive a share of the revenue under their taxation agreement with Penn National Gaming. In the first year, the company paid roughly $18 million to the city and state.
