Abstract

"There and Back" piece recalling, in light-hearted tones, the author's first real estate purchase in Maine - a home on 12 acres in Cherryfield. The home looked perfect when John McDonald and his wife toured it on a sunny August day, but seemed less desirable in March when a culvert froze and flooded the cellar.
