Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on a proposal by the Legislature's utilities committee that would require all telephone providers to collect the fee that helps pay for the 911 emergency phone systems. Currently, some voice-over-Internet (VOIP) systems and prepaid cell phones do not collect the tax. Public Advocate Richard Davies said his office is still reviewing the proposal.
