Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece reporting that a recommended overhaul of the state's unemployment insurance program would cut taxes by $68.7 million and expand benefits for thousands of Mainers. Laura Fortman, Maine Labor Commissioner, said the new benefits and retraining efforts are affordable because the state will reduce its unemployment trust fund reserves from 21 months to 18 months.
