Abstract

"Focus: Building & Real Estate" piece on rising fuel and materials prices which are impacting Maine's construction industry. Stacey Morrison, owner of Ganneston Construction in Augusta, says high materials costs are forcing companies to trim their profit margins, while clients are forced to scale back on projects or leave them unfinished. Ryan Senatore, an associate at Portland-based TFH Architects, says clients are often forced to choose cheaper materials to complete a construction project on budget. But Senatore warns that those clients may pay a price in the long run. With additional comments by Kathleen Newman, president of the Maine chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors in Augusta.
