Abstract

A task force commissioned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland has recommended closing St. Dominic's and possibly Sacred Heart, both in Portland. Confronted by urban flight, limited parking and decaying church buildings, St. Dominic's rarely draws more than 200 to its 700-seat sanctuary. Father Frank Morin hopes to turn St. Dominic's over to an institution that will preserve its architecture.
