Abstract

"Venture Builder" piece on Mike Cote, 52, an Auburn native who is head of Looks Gourmet Food Co. in Whiting, which packages all-natural premium Maine seafood under the Bar Harbor and Atlantic labels. He was senior vice president at Odwalla before it was sold to Coca-Cola, and after leaving the company, acquired Looks Gourmet in 2003. CEI Community Ventures invested $300,000 in the company in 2005. In an interview, Cote talks about how the business has grown dramatically. He is putting together another deal with Sea Change Fund of California and Maine-based Small Enterprise Growth Fund to expand further.
