Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on the upcoming hearings on the merger of FairPoint Communications and the wireline facilities of Verizon in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. A major issue will be whether the new company can provide adequate broadband Internet access to our mostly rural area - a crucial service to many businesses. With comments by Dana Chambers, president of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce; Kurt Adams, chair of the Public Utilities Commission; and Peter Nixon, president of FairPoint.
