Abstract

"Business Maine" piece featuring an interview in question-and-answer format with Henry Petroski, a professor of civil engineering and history at Duke University, and author of "The Toothpick: Technology and Culture." Petroski discusses the his research on manufacturing and Charles Foster, the man who launched Maine's toothpick industry. At one point, Maine was producing 95 percent of all the toothpicks made in America.
