Abstract

"Business Maine: Statewide" piece reporting that the Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) recently recommended that the state consider splitting from ISO-New England, the nonprofit corporation that manages electric transmission and generation for the region. The report cites several concerns, including that less populated states like Maine bear a disproportionate portion of the region's energy costs. The report suggests three solutions: reforming the market, leaving the ISO to create an independent transmission company in Maine, or linking with the power grid in New Brunswick and other Maritime Canadian provinces.
