    Abstract

"Business Maine: Central & Western" piece on the recent denial by the Fryeburg Planning Board of a permit for Poland Spring to build a pumping station on Route 302. The decision came a week after voters passed a moratorium on commercial processing and water hauling in town. Phil Corelli, town manager, said residents were concerned that the bottling facility would create heavy tanker truck traffic in the rural town. A zoning dispute about the proposed facility sparked a two-year court battle between the town and Poland Spring, which is owned by the international corporation Nestle Waters N.A. The company has not decided whether to appeal the Planning Board ruling.
