Abstract
John Rackley of Eliot, a quadriplegic, invented an all-terrain wheelchair so he could go hunting. Last year, he partnered with Alpha One of South Portland to create Renegade Wheelchairs LLC, marketing a product made by Don's Sheet Metal in Biddeford. Any profits the company makes will go toward Alpha One's programs for people with disabilities. Despite the chair's relatively low price of $4,000, the recreational wheelchair is not covered by insurance companies. It out-performs many higher-priced competitors.
