Abstract
Article on the Patent Reform Act of 2007, noting that some Maine inventors are concerned about the pending legislation, which proposes the first significant changes to patent law in more than 50 years. Ian Engelman, who has invented a number of products for Insightful Products LLC, his custom orthotics business in Scarborough, fears that the act will put a squeeze on small inventors. The Maine Patent Program, a publicly-funded office, argues that the system as it works now levels the playing field for small and large inventors. Details.
