Abstract

"From the Ground Up" piece criticizing a state policy that limits the upgrades Maine hospitals can make annually, noting that the consequences for Maine's health care industry and hospital construction market are dire. Gov. John Baldacci's Dirigo Health program included arbitrary capital spending restrictions on Maine's hospitals. But LD 2152 would repeal the artificial cap and allow hospitals to better meet the needs of patients. With comments by Peter Chalke, CEO of Central Maine Health Care and Central Maine Medical Center.
