"Step Ahead." Atlantic Bank started selling bi-weekly mortgages two years ago, and other area banks have quietly followed. The payment plan, recently advertized as a new idea by the Bank of New Zealand, saves $47,396 in interest over the life of an 8 percent, 30-year $100,000 mortgage.
