Abstract

"Focus on Transportation & Trade" piece on a proposed $27 million project to create Maine Street Station in Brunswick in hopes that the Downeaster's rail route will be extended from Portland. Passenger rail ridership is up nationwide in response to high fuel prices. With details on the successful bill to extend service to Brunswick, opposition to the bill, estimates of what the Downeaster contributes to state revenue, and a profile of Wayne Davis, founder of TrainRiders/Northeast.
