Abstract

Although Freeport seems to have an above-average number of retail vacancies, town businesses aren't worried. Retailers are still willing to pay twice the square-foot cost of stores aroung the Maine Mall, just to be close to L.L. Bean. Spring is the main leasing season, and the town has just leased its former library to Vermont Teddy Bear and installed new sewer lines in hope of developing the Route 1 corridor.
