Abstract

"Focus on Health Care" piece on the University of New England's new college of pharmacy, which will open at the Westbrook campus in Portland in 2009. Besides training pharmacists, the college will create opportunities in biomedical research. UNE President Danielle Ripich wants to make the school one of the nation's top 25 within a decade. Maine has a moderate demand for pharmacists, which is predicted to worsen in the next two decades. Husson College in Bangor will also begin a new pharmacy program next year.
