Abstract

David Oleson and Carlos DaSilva, owners of the Paper Center, are shedding their warehouse image in favor of more personalized sales approach. Although their primary customers have been small print shops, they see growth in small businesses like churches, municipalities and restaurants. The surge of home offices and personal printing promises to attract more retail business. Century Robinson Papers had owned the Paper Center for 12 years, but when Century Robinson was bought out in 1996, it was forced to sell off the store, and offered it to employees Oleson and DaSilva. They operate an Allston, Massachusetts, store as well as the one in Portland.
