Abstract
"Focus on Lewiston-Auburn" piece on the Port of Auburn, a warehouse and rail terminal owned by Safe Handling, which handles more tonnage than any of Maine's seaports, except Portland. In the past two decades, Lewiston and Auburn have transformed themselves from fading manufacturers into a logistics hub for Maine and New England, spurring the building of industrial parks. The twin cities lie near the center of Maine's population, almost half of which lives within a 30-mile radius. Much of what the Port of Auburn does is international trade, and the city is a federally designated Foreign Trade Zone. With a list of business parks in both cities.
