Abstract

"Charting the Course" piece by Maggie Drummond, policy director of GrowSmart Maine in Yarmouth. She discusses protecting Maine's community centers as a way of keeping the state "special and solvent" and believes that Maine could model a "Communities for Maine's Future" program on its successful Land for Maine's Future program. With the exception of federal funds received through the Community Development Block Grant program, public investment lags behind private-sector interest in such ventures.
