Abstract

"Newsworthy" piece with a profile of Tom Niemann of Niemann Capital, a firm that specializes in redeveloping historic buildings in North Carolina, and now, Augusta. Niemann is working on redeveloping the Kennebec Arsenal in Augusta and the old Hathaway factory in Waterville. He commends Maine for its natural beauty, which inspired him to house hunt here, and for the effectiveness of Pine Tree Zones and local TIF agreements in facilitating economic development. He says the projects would not be possible without the new state tax credits for historic building makeovers.
