Abstract

"Focus on Augusta-Waterville region" piece on MaineGeneral Health, which hopes the success of its Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta will aid plans for a $322 million consolidated hospital. The new hospital, which would replace old facilities in Waterville and Augusta, would be built near the Alfond Center by 2015. The response, after years of struggle to create such a plan, has been largely positive. Compared to previous plans, Waterville is "resigned" to this one. A certificate of need application has been submitted to the state for approval. With details on the plan and its projected financial benefits.
