Abstract
Part 3 of a six-part series, "Working Knowledge," with a focus on the health care industry in Maine. It is the only industry to add jobs since the start of the recession, and it has added more jobs in the past 10 years than the next 10 industries combined. Over the next decade, nearly one out of every three new jobs is expected to be in health care. Companies that specialize in information see cost-curbing as a business opportunity. Portland-based Health Dialog offers a variety of disease management and wellness programs. HealthInfoNet offers shared, secure electronic health data, and Athenahealth of Belfast provides online billing and practice management. With a list of health care's top 20 jobs.
