Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on the Governor's Task Force on Employee Misclassification, which has concluding the state is losing tax revenue and creating an unfair playing field as the result of workers being misclassified as independent contractors. Building and construction unions believe there is widespread use of independent contractors and workers paid under the table and are calling for stepped up enforcement, but employer groups argue businesses are already addressing the issue.
