Abstract

Profile of and interview with Yellow Light Breen of Holden, who chairs the Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education and is senior vice president for strategic development at Bangor Savings Bank, where he also heads the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation, which awards $100,000 in grants through the Community Matters More program. He headed up a project for the Baldacci administration called Realize!Maine, designed to address the state's so-called "brain drain." He speaks about the diversity in life styles and ideologies found in Maine communities, the state's business climate, and the challenges of consolidating school districts versus other ways of achieving academic excellence.
