Abstract
"Focus Northern Maine" piece and timeline on the history of Plum Creek's planned Moosehead Lake development and their current efforts to create a conservation easement of more than 390,000 acres while they, along with The Nature Conservancy and Maine's attorney general, appeal an April Maine Superior Court ruling against their revised concept plan. The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission had unanimously endorsed Plum Creek's revised plan in October 2009 but that vote was successfully challenged in Maine Superior Court by The Forest Ecology Network, Natural Resources Council of Maine and RESTORE: The North Woods. If Plum Creek's appeal is successful, the conservation easement transactions with The Nature Conservancy, Appalachian Mountain Club and the state will be ready to proceed. But if the appeal is unsuccessful, the next steps are uncertain.
