Abstract
"Focus Sustainability" piece to help determine when carbon credits make sense for individual businesses. While some companies might have been initially participating in the voluntary carbon offset market due to anticipated regulations, businesses are also purchasing carbon offsets to demonstrate social responsibility to customers. The volume of greenhouse gasses traded in the voluntary market in 2010 was 131.2 million metric tons ù an increase of 34% over 2009 levels and almost double 2007 levels. Describes how the voluntary carbon offset market works and how to participate in the market as a buyer or a seller.
