Abstract

"Focus Western Maine" piece on Maine Summer Camps' campaign to increase enrollment in Maine youth camps, some of which have been in operation for over 100 years. Their campaign will include a camper-created video competition called Letters From Camp. In recent years, Maine's 200-plus summer camps and camps nationwide have seen declining enrollments due to factors such as the recession and safety concerns. The economic impact of campers and families on state and local economies is significant, especially in western Maine.
