Abstract
"Capitol Update" piece on Governor LePage's efforts to reduce MaineCare eligibility from 200% of the federal poverty level to 133%. LePage says that this will match the level in 47 other states and that many people between the current and proposed level can help pay for their own health insurance. But others such as Rep. Peggy Rotundo, the lead Democrat on the approprations committee, believe that individuals and families at the 133% poverty level will not be able to afford health coverage at the existing rates and the federal health reform law and subsidies aimed at aiding those between the 133% and 200% levels will not go into effect until 2014.
