"Commentary" piece written by Jim Wellehan, president of Lamey-Wellehan in Auburn. He discusses his company's participation in Gov. John Baldacci's "Governor's Carbon Challenge" program that led Lamey-Wellehan to make changes such as new fuels, updated lighting fixtures, and increased roof and wall insulation. The company's energy costs have been greatly reduced, their carbon footprint has decreased about 30% from 2004 levels, and Wellehan believes these environmentally conscious changes are appreciated by Maine customers.
