Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on differing opinions about cutting school aid among members of the state's task force responsible for cutting $25 million to balance the second year of Maine's two-year budget. Some believe that general purpose aid for education must be considered as a possible area for cuts, but others are concerned that cuts to state education funding would force municipalities to raise local taxes, impacting all Maine tax payers.
