Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on recent estimates from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis that show that Maine's rate of income growth in 2011 was only 3.4%, the lowest in the nation and a significant decrease from the previous year when Maine ranked 28th in the nation. Maine's per capita personal income grew 3.3% to $37,973 which ranks 49th in the nation. Gov. LePage was not surprised by the news and said Maine has significant work to do in the areas work force training and lower energy costs.
