Abstract
"Focus Northern Maine" piece on efforts by Aroostook Partnership for Progress to retain the county's young people and dispel the myth that it is hard to find work in Aroostook County. A recent Business Retention and Expansion survey of Aroostook County employers demonstrated that the companies are having trouble finding new employees because the labor pool is small and the available candidates often don't have the necessary skills. According to Bob Dorsey, president and CEO of APP, the organization began a project in March to create an Aroostook County Jobs Projection database with information about the anticipated job skills and job needs of Aroostook County's 50 largest employers that will help students determine which courses of study to take and what professions will be in high demand.
