Abstract
"Focus Travel & Tourism" piece on three new educational programs in Maine geared toward preparing students to take part in Maine's tourism industry. Starting in the fall, students can enroll in the University of Southern Maine's new four-year tourism and hospitality program that will focus on all aspects of the tourism industry, including history, art, and environmental science. Husson University's School of Sport and Tourism Management opened in the spring of 2011 and offers different types of degrees such as a five-year BS/MBA degree and a bachelor's degree as well as a minor and collaborate with TriCounty Workforce Investment Board's youth services program to offer a certificate program in hospitality. Welcome ME is a joint venture between the Maine Woods Consortium, the University of Maine, and the Center for Tourism Research and Outreach (CenTRO) that provides Maine's tourism and hospitality workers access to a free online customer service program that results in a certificate upon completion.
