Abstract

"Focus Law" piece on a change to Maine's Bar reciprocal admissions standards. As of January 1, qualified lawyers from 31 states may enter the Maine Bar without taking the bar exam, although there are certain requirements that must be met. Twenty attorneys so far have met the requirements. Susan Adams, registration coordinator for the Board of Overseers of the Bar, anticipates even more applications as awareness of the reciprocity change grows. Under this new rule, Maine lawyers may also seek admission to the bar of the 31 other states.
