Abstract

Groundroot Preservation Group of York, a historic restoration and preservation firm, was founded in 2012 by Scott Stevens and Steven Mallory. Although only a year old, the fledgling company already has $400,000 worth of projects under contract. Their work involves researching and writing historic structure reports, conducting forensic analyses of buildings to determine the causes of problems, and helping people use their historic buildings in the modern world. Clients include individual homeowners as well as museums such as the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Mass.
