Abstract

“On the Record” piece is an edited transcript of an interview with Jeff Levine, the director of Portland’s Planning and Urban Development Department. In his two years on the job so far, Levine reduced building permit review times from 40 days to an average of 30 days. He discusses the pre-application meetings that have recently been initiated and talks about making progress towards electronic applications.
