Abstract

“Focus: Real Estate/ Construction/ Design” piece on Bellwether Design Technologies LLC of Biddeford, a company that engineers and supplies complex glazing systems. The glass crinkle wall of the new Hyatt Place hotel in Portland was engineered by Bellwether. The company says that business has doubled every year since it was founded in 2010. While some of this work is in Maine, most of it is in large cities with skyscrapers. One of their most challenging projects is the replacement of glass walls on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Kresge Auditorium, a job that had been widely considered to be impossible.
