Abstract

Profile of Fiber Materials Inc. of Biddeford, a maker of high end composite materials for the space science, defense, oil and gas, and commercial aerospace industries. The company will be supplying components for NASA’s Orion spacecraft, which requires lightweight materials that are impact-resistant and high-temperature resistant, and for the Mars 2020 rover. Many of FMI’s products are custom made and some of their clients and projects are cloaked in secrecy. The company employs many University of Maine engineer graduates.
