Abstract
One of the proposals of the currently secretly negotiated Trans-Pacific Partnership that would severely impact New Balance’s Maine factories in Norridgewock, Skowhegan and Norway, is the elimination of tariffs that are currently protecting shoemakers in the United States. Congress wants to put the bill on a fast track, which would curtail debate, and seems counter to a democratic process.
